A lonely, independent Hawaiian girl living with her older sister adopts what she believes is an unusual, aggressive stray puppy from the local shelter. In reality, her new pet is a dangerous, genetically engineered alien fugitive fleeing from intergalactic authorities. Through the deep Hawaiian concept of 'ohana, she teaches the chaotic alien creature how to love, care, and belong to a human family.
