Kalkan shopping
Kalkan is the perfect destination for shopping! There are plenty of options in the town, ranging from traditional bazaars to luxury "designer stores". You can find anything from handmade Turkish carpets and souvenirs to jewellery, clothing, and traditional handicrafts. Those looking for a more modern shopping experience can visit the high-end boutiques in Kalkan's historic old town. There are also plenty of small shops and markets selling fresh produce, as well as convenience stores for everyday items.
Markets in and around Kalkan
Do you know about our weekly markets? They are on, all year round and provide locals with a way to get their fresh produce & essentials while giving visitors the chance to savour all the seasonal offerings and a few souvenirs too.
We have 2 markets that are easily accessible for Kalkan visitors.
The closest one is the Kalkan Thursday Market. It starts early in the morning till early evening time. The location of the market is here.

There is one more market, the Akbel market, that one is on Sundays located here. It is also walkable but only by very fit people as you have to climb a few hills on the way. Most people will take a taxi there and then just walk back down. Its quite similar to the Thursday one but a bit more local in flavour. Lot less touristy stuff and a lot more stalls for locals. One special feature of this one is the point and cook fish stall that you should experience.
There are a few other notable markets within driving (or busing) distance. There are many more that are very local and would not be of interest for visitors (just local fruits and veg).
Other notable ones:
-
Kaş market on Fridays : very similar to Kalkan but bigger. Its an excuse to visit the much larger town.
-
Kınık market on Fridays : very similar to Akbel, but much bigger. Very local, targeting local farming community.
-
Fethiye Tuesday market : the largest market in the area, worth a visit and an excuse to go to Fethiye.
-
Fethiye Friday market : fruits and veg only. Huge variety and full of colours.

Supermarkets & Groceries

Whether you're planning to whip up a delicious meal in your self-catering villa or simply stock up on snacks , drinks and other essentials, Kalkan offers a diverse range of options for all your grocery needs. From large supermarkets offering both local and international products to local greengrocers and small independents, you'll find fresh produce, pantry staples, and regional delights readily available throughout the town.
When possible, please shop at the smaller independent shops and support local families in the process.
Supermarkets
Kalkan has 6 sizeable supermarkets scattered throughout the resort. While none of them come close to 'superstores' you may ben familiar with, they all have pretty much all you need for your major shop. Macro has the most imported items and therefore tends to be the priciest. The others tend to stock mostly local goods at reasonable prices. Take care when shopping : if its imported its going to be quite expensive. Buy local brands to avoid sticker shock.

Carrefour Kalamar
Tucked into the far end of Kalamar road, below Yelken apartments, this tidy store covers most essentials, a reasonable wine&beer selection and less busy that town center spots making it a preferred destination for those driving.

Migros
Located along Kalkan’s main street near the Thursday market area, this is a mid-sized, modern branch with a wide range of fresh produce, meat counter, dairy, snacks, drinks, and household essentials. A good all-rounder, and the choice for most visitors.

Migros Kalamar
This branch is smaller than its bigger sister, but being next to Macro makes this very handy as you have 2 markets together in one stop. It has all the basics including fresh bread made on site.

Carrefour
Sitting towards the south of town, this compact but well-stocked store punches above its size with a great range of foods, fresh produce, cleaning products, and even some imported goods. It features a well stocked fish counter making it a good destination for seafood.

Macro Center
Located near the middle of Kalamar road, next to Migros, Macro is Kalkan’s upmarket supermarket. Expect imported goods, premium wines, deli items, and high-end snacks alongside everyday staples. Prices are higher, but so is the selection.

Anka
One of the oldest markets in town, this is a large market carrying all sorts of food as well as holiday essentials. It is also fronted by Yali Express - a great spot for some quick bites. It has a mix of local and imported goods, you will find all sorts here that you wont see in other supermarkets.
Discounters
Kalkan is home to seven different discount supermarkets, similar to Lidl or Aldi, scattered throughout the resort. These are perfect for buying your essentials in a very budget-friendly way. Expect no-frills shopping: the stores are typically smaller, simply laid out, and focus on everyday groceries, cleaning products, and personal care items, but you won't find alcohol.
You'll find a strong emphasis on their own private-label brands, with almost no imported groceries available. They also feature "specials" aisles with heavily discounted odds and ends that appear one day and are gone the next. These stores are ideal for stocking up your self-catering accommodation without breaking the bank.
Minimarkets
Throughout Kalkan you'll find numerous minimarkets conveniently located. These are small, mostly independent supermarkets offering a more traditional and varied range of products.
These shops offer a good selection of both local and some well-known international brands, often catering to diverse tastes. They tend to have a more relaxed atmosphere for browse and often boast extended opening hours, sometimes even 24/7.
Special Mention : CanCan carries a wide selection of imported British goods, cans, sauces as well as pork products such as bacon and sausauges.
Greengrocers/Fishmongers/Butchers/Bakery
For fresh, authentic local produce, exploring Kalkan's specialised shops is a must. You'll find inviting greengrocers (manav) overflowing with vibrant, seasonal fruits and vegetables, often picked locally and far fresher than what you'd find in a supermarket. Similarly, local butchers (kasap) offer high-quality cuts of meat, often prepared to order, providing an excellent option for grilling at your villa. For the freshest catch, seek out the fishmonger (balıkçı) above the bakery, ready to be scaled and gutted for you.
Completing your culinary exploration are the local bakeries (fırın), which churn out fresh bread and pastries throughout the day. From traditional Turkish loaves to simit, poğaça and various böreks.
Shopping at these independent stores offers a more immersive local experience, allowing you to interact with friendly vendors and discover the true flavors of Turkish ingredients.
Alcohol shops
For those seeking a wider array of alcoholic beverages, you'll find dedicated corner alcohol shops, locally known as tekel büfe or tekels, dotted around the resort. These independent stores specialize solely in alcohol, offering a much broader selection than minimarkets. You can expect to find a comprehensive range of local and imported beers, wines (including Turkish regional varieties), spirits, and mixers, catering to all tastes.
Other choices
Most of the best boutique shops can be found in Kalkan itself with lots of small gift, jewellry, clothes, leather handbags, purse, leather shoe shops, carpet bazaars, and antiques’ outlets all to be found on the winding, cobbled streets.
