Airport transfers
Once you have your flights and accommodation booked, you need to think how to get from the airport to Kalkan. Direct transfers from Dalaman will be under 2h while Antalya should be under 4h.
Number of options are available to Kalkan visitors.

Arranged Car Service
By far the most commonly used option is to arrange for private car service to come and pick you up from the airport. It makes the most sense when you are 2 or more passengers.

There are a number of local Kalkan firms that offer reliable service. These locally owned and staffed providers with decades of experience, know the area well and we recommend you use them.

There are out of town operators, many of them compete on price&quality. A lot of visitors use them too but do remember the old adage : you get what you pay for. Most of the time they are fine but these out of area drivers, may not be familiar with Kalkan and arrival at night could be challenging.
If you are a first time visitor, unfamiliar with Kalkan, unsure about precise location of your accommodation etc, we'd definitely suggest you go with a local Kalkan based operator for reliability.

You will be asked to provide full names, date of birth and passport numbers. This is perfectly normal in order to satisfy local regulations.

Taxis
Getting off the airplane and hopping in a taxi is convenient, quick and something available for all visitors. However, grabbing an on demand taxi will be the most expensive way to travel and therefore not recommended unless you've not had time to make other arrangements. Current pricing is around £100 for transfers to/from Dalaman Airport and £200 for rides to/from Antalya Airport.

Rental Car
Kalkan is not a large resort and if you are intending to stay within Kalkan, a car is not needed at all. Taxis are plentiful and inexpensive. Parking in the heart of the town can be a challenge and a hassle for visitors.

However, if you enjoy driving and are going to be exploring the area, heading off to lots of far flung attractions & getting off the beaten path, a car rental is something many visitors consider.
You can rent from major suppliers at or near the airport. You can also arrange for a car pickup combined with a car waiting for you when you arrive at your accommodation. Driving from Dalaman or Antalya airports is well signposted and not considered particularly challenging.

Shared Shuttle
If you are traveling solo or in a small group, and don't mind to wait an hour or 3 after arrival, an inexpensive shared shuttle may be suitable for you. Expect to pay approximately £10 per person for this service.

3 operators with fixed and differing schedules ply the route from Dalaman to KaÅŸ, with a stopover in Kalkan. These shuttles will leave you somewhere central in Kalkan and you will then need to walk or hop on a taxi to get to your final accommodation.
Pick the one with the most convenient schedule but in our experience, GümüÅŸ Travel Shuttle has consistently been the most reliable one.

Public Transport

There are public transport buses available from the airports but require vehicle changes. As this choice will result in transfer times of many inconvenient hours, this method is not recommended for regular visitors.
For the adventurous who wish to try it, from Dalaman you would need to take a HavaÅŸ or MuttaÅŸ bus into Fethiye followed by another regular bus to Kalkan. For those coming in from Antalya, a tram ride followed by a minibus would be needed to get to Kalkan.

Hitchhiking
Not suitable for the ordinary visitor but open for the very adventurous traveler, Türkiye remains one of the few places around the world that is very friendly towards those thumbing a ride. The route from Dalaman to Kalkan is very well traveled and quite easy to get rides.
If this mode of transport fits your sensibilities, read more about Türkiye & hitchhiking to decide if its something you'd want to try.
